When Generosity Makes Room

Sixteen. They were only sixteen.

With no safe place to stay, they went door to door, asking other refugee families for a place to sleep. Every few nights brought the same question. Where will we sleep?

As we prayed for a way to help, one of our GED students, Aima, offered to take them in. We went to visit her home. A small studio. Just enough space for one person to live. But when we stepped inside, we saw three.

Aima was already sharing her room with two other girls who could not afford rent. Three young women, living together in a space that could barely hold what they owned, let alone welcome two more.

And still, Aima made space. She shared her floor. Her food. Her safety.

Now 26, Aima arrived in Thailand ten years ago as an unaccompanied minor. She knows what it means to face life alone. To navigate uncertainty without protection. And because she knows, she opened her door.

What we saw was not abundance. It was generosity. And it was also a steady kind of care that says, “You are not alone.”

We are now coming alongside them to help keep these girls safe and to build a stronger community around them. A place where they are supported, can develop skills, and move toward adulthood with hope.

Even in the midst of deep need, something beautiful is already taking shape. And we are expectant to see how these young lives will continue to grow and be transformed.
